As a tribute to Sven Kramer’s impressive career, the Royal Dutch Mint collaborated with the Sven Kramer Academy and Team Jumbo-Visma to design a limited-edition gold coin. Only 10 of these coins were ever made and this coin, in particular, was the very first, much like Kramer during most of his career. The showcase plating refers to Sven Kramer’s impressive career and is a reference to the many hours Kramer undoubtedly spent on the skating track: the slashes are a recognition of the marks left on the ice by the skates. At the centre of the ‘skating track’ sits the gold coin.

This showcase plate is numbered #1, highlighting it as the first coin in this series of 10. All 10 coins also come with a numbered certificate and we have withheld number 1 for this auction.
