UNHCRAS Roma is committed to supporting the war-affected population of Ukraine through a series of actions in support of UNHCR.
The UN Refugee Agency has activated its own protection and assistance programme for refugees in the regions adjacent to the conflict, where more than one million people have been forced to flee their homes.
On the instructions of UNHCR, in the first phase of the emergency, the Club provided a donation of 2000 winter clothes for infants and 1000 for children.
Subsequently, a series of activities were organised to support the Ukrainian population, who found shelter in the city of Rome in accommodation facilities.
On the occasion of Roma-Shakhtar, the last pre-season friendly and first home match of the 2022-2023 season, the two teams took to the pitch with a patch dedicated to the Ukrainian population, bearing the UNHCR logo.
The Giallorossi also hosted hundreds of Ukrainians at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, on the instructions of the embassy, and organised a special training session in Trigoria for 23 children from Dinamo Kiev, who are currently guests of L'Aquila Calcio.
The entire proceeds from the sale of tickets for the match were donated to Shakhtar Donetsk, and in particular to support the 'Shelter Center Arena Lviv', the football stadium in the city of Lviv converted into an emergency shelter for hundreds of refugees from the current crisis: the proceeds from the friendly match will be used to provide them with food, medical care, childcare and much more to those in needAltre informazioni?
