Lady Be: Artist, Pioneer & Educator
Letizia Lanzarotti, better known as Lady Be, is born in Italy, in a small province in Lombardy called Dorno. Growing up, she has a passion for small toys and objects, but most importantly for art. After enrolling and completing Art School in her teenage years, she decides to enter the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome to make her passion a job.
After graduating from her studies, she embarks on her artistic journey and presents to the world her unique style, becoming the pioneer and inventor of a new technique called “Contemporary Mosaics”. Her artworks recreate iconic moments and portraits which are mainly composed of unaltered recycled toys, many of which she collected in her childhood. Her work also educates the viewer on the importance of recycling and protecting the environment, as she also uses recycled bottle caps, pens, buttons, make-up wrappers, and many other discarded objects that she collects from schools and flea markets or directly from individual or collective cleaning activities, particularly on the beaches of Italy. Despite her young age, Lady Be is already well renowned in the art scene, thanks to two major exhibitions, one in New York and one at the Tour Eiffel in Paris.
With one of her latest artworks, Lady Be has decided to join forces with AS Roma to recreate a self-standing mosaic of the club’s official logo, solely using recycled materials. These materials were provided to her by the club and include items such as merchandise gadgets, bracelets, shoes, clothing used by the players, and pieces of punctured footballs. The club and the artist also decided to place the artwork on auction on the MatchWornShirt platform. The funds gathered will be then invested into green and sustainable teaching materials that will benefit a number of schools in Rome.
MatchWornShirt is proud not only to give a platform for the artwork of a young and upcoming artist, but also to reinforce their pledge towards the importance of sustainability and the essential fight to protect the environment and the planet.
If you want to show your support and own a unique piece of art and sports memorabilia, head to the auction and make your contribution.
