Where the money goes
John Blankenstein Foundation Op 25 augustus 2006 overleed John Blankenstein, Karin’s broer. Twee jaar later, in 2008, richtte Karin de stichting op die de naam van haar broer draagt, om zo zijn gedachtegoed voort te zetten. John is en blijft de grondlegger van de doelstellingen van de JBF. Hiermee zoekt de JBF zingeving in alles waar John tijdens zijn professionele carrière tegen aanliep met betrekking tot zijn geaardheid. Er zijn in de afgelopen tien jaren heel wat stappen gezet, tranen gelaten, frustraties geuit en (na lange tijd) deuren geopend. De afgelopen jaren is de JBF in een stroomversnelling terechtgekomen en lijkt de tijd rijp voor vele sportorganisaties om hun deuren te openen voor de JBF workshops over diversiteit. De JBF is trots op haar grote project ‘Heroes Of Football’, wat met EU-subsidie tot stand is gekomen. Mede hierdoor krijgen de JBF en haar gedachtegoed ook voet aan de grond op Europese bodem. Een grote verdienste. Speciale dank gaat uit naar oud-KNVB voorzitter Michael van Praag, die even bevlogen als Karin, de JBF steunt met raad én daad.On 25 August 2006, Karin's brother John Blankenstein passed away. Two years later, in 2008, Karin set up the foundation that bears her brother's name in order to continue his legacy. John is and remains the founder of the JBF's objectives. Through this, the JBF seeks meaning in everything John encountered during his professional career with regard to his orientation. Many steps have been taken, tears shed, frustrations expressed and (after a long time) doors opened over the past decade. In recent years, the JBF has gained momentum and the time seems ripe for many sports organisations to open their doors to the JBF's workshops on diversity. The JBF is proud of its major project 'Heroes Of Football', which was created with EU funding. Partly because of this, the JBF and its ideas are also gaining a foothold on European soil. A great achievement. Special thanks go to former KNVB president Michael van Praag, who, just as enthusiastically as Karin, supports the JBF by heart.
