This year the cycling classic Paris - Roubaix is all about raising awareness to wear a helmet while cycling. Team Jumbo-Visma and partner Lazer are drawing attention to this initiative through a unique helmet design which the riders will wear during the race on which healthy brains are clearly visible. It happens all too often that a bike accident results in brain damage, which could have been prevented by wearing a helmet. Use Your Head.

The proceeds raised from the helmets will go to the HerstrijdStrijd (Brain Battle) Fund. An initiative of Neurologist and Intensivist Dr. Marcel Aries of Maastricht UMC+, who together with scientists from Maastricht University are conducting pioneering research to adjust brain perfusion in such a way that brain cells can recover in intensive care. Their ambition is to have an optimal individual treatment for each patient with severe brain injury so that the patient recovers faster and better and thus maintains a good quality of life. In addition, the fund contributes to the development of measures that can prevent severe brain injury. HersenStrijd therefore also actively promotes safer cycling by wearing a bicycle helmet.

The proceeds raised from the suits will be used to continue the development and growth of Team Jumbo-Visma and will be used for various different projects.
